TCT stands for Tungsten Carbide Tipped, which describes saw blades with teeth made of Tungsten Carbide. This material is exceptionally rugged, capable of being sharpened to an extremely fine edge. It's also robust enough to cut through both fresh and recycled wood, as well as mild steel, non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites, provided a high-grade carbide is used. At Evolution, all our TCT blades feature carbide teeth sourced from Japan, known for their top-tier quality, resulting in longer-lasting and sharper cutting performance compared to lower-grade alternatives.
Diamond saw blades feature a segmented edge embedded with industrial diamond grit. They excel at cutting various masonry materials like bricks, blocks, concrete, reinforced slabs, and decorative stonework. Evolution provides a selection of top-tier Diamond Blades with a 30% greater diamond concentration at the cutting edge, making them ideal for tackling tougher materials. Additionally, Evolution's Electric Disc Cutter, particularly the R300DCT+ model, incorporates water dust suppression, which not only prolongs blade life but also boosts cutting speed by lubricating the blade during operation and reducing dust output.
Evolution saw blades are available in sizes ranging from 6-1/2 inches for our compact circular saws to 14 inches for our largest heavy-duty Chop Saws. When considering the purchase of a saw blade, it's important to ensure that the blade size, arbor size, and maximum speed are suitable for the machine you plan to use. Our multi-material and material-specific metal and wood cutting blades are available in sizes from 6-1/2 inches to 14 inches, while our Diamond Disc Cutter blades come in 9-inch,10-inch, and 12-inch sizes.
The number of teeth on a saw blade is determined by various factors, including the type of blade, its size, the material it's meant to cut, and the tool's speed. Larger blades typically have more teeth per square inch due to their higher rotation speed. Our Multi-material blades are crafted with a precise tooth count per inch, and carefully integrated into the overall blade design. This ensures optimal performance, delivering swift, precise, and clean cuts across a wide range of materials. If you need specific information about any of our blades, tools, or advice on the best tool for a particular cutting task, please reach out to our customer service department.
Because it leads to superior cutting performance. The number of teeth on Evolution blades is specifically tailored to match the rotation speed of the saw they're designed for. Our saws feature high-torque motors with lower RPM, resulting in a better cut when used with our blades. It's this blend of blade design, TCT technology, and higher-torque motors that empowers Evolution multi-material saws and blades to effortlessly cut through new and recycled wood, mild steel, non-ferrous metals, as well as plastics and composites using just one blade.
To prolong the lifespan of your blade, make sure to clean it regularly to get rid of any residue on the blade's surface and teeth. We suggest giving it a swift wipe-down with a cloth soaked in automotive brake cleaner or WD40 to maintain optimal cutting performance. If you often work with resinous or sticky woods like plywood, it's a good idea to take off the blade, soak it, and scrub it with brake cleaner and a sturdy brush to remove any stubborn buildup and bring back its cutting efficiency. When using your saw, avoid applying too much force to push
the workpiece through the blade. Instead, let the blade do the cutting and
gently guide the workpiece through.
Multi-material blades excel at cutting a wide range of materials, making them an excellent choice for tasks involving wood, metal, and plastics. However, if your primary focus is wood, then you'll want a blade optimized specifically for that purpose. Our wood blades are equipped with a modified ATB tooth profile, along with rake and draft angles that are finely tuned for cutting all types of wood. This results in a faster, cleaner cut with reduced tear-out.
Multi-material blades are designed to perform exceptionally well across a broad spectrum of materials, making them an excellent choice for cutting wood, mild steel, non-ferrous metals, and plastics. However, if your primary application is metal cutting, you'll want a blade that's tailored precisely for that job. Our metal blades each feature a modified Triple Chip tooth profile, tooth count, and rake and draft angles that are optimized for cutting materials like mild steel, aluminum, thin metal sheets, or grades 302, 303, and 304 of stainless steel.
The best Evolution saw blades for cutting plywood are the Fine Wood blades. They feature a higher tooth count and specialized tooth profiles and angles designed to deliver a cleaner cut with minimal tear-out when working with plywood and other laminated wood products.
For cutting laminate flooring, the best Evolution saw blades are either the Fine Wood blades or the Thin Steel blades. The Fine Wood blade is ideal for wood-based laminate flooring types. However, for laminate flooring with a protective wear coating made of tough materials like aluminum oxide, we recommend the Thin Steel blade. It has a higher tooth count, reducing abrasive wear caused by the protective layer.
